    MATERIAL LIST

  1. Hook - Mustad 9049 #4, 9672 #4, or down to # 8, depending on aquatics in your area

  2. Thread - Unithread 6/0: dirty Olive, light yellow, dark brown, or black

  3. Tail - A few flues from Ringneck Pheasant tail

  4. Body - Two appropriate wools, woven

  5. Hackle - Webby Barred Rock

METHOD

Tie in the tail, and build up the body in a taper using a commercial nymph form, the body wools, or a wedge-shaped piece of thin plastic. Weave the body, and tie off. Take about three turns of hackle. Make head of peacock herl using 2 flues, tied in tip first, and spiralling the tying thread around the delicate flues to make a rope. Finish the head off, and apply your favorite head cement.

COMMENTS
