MATERIALS LIST

  1. Hook - Tiemco 206BL, 2457, Dai Riki 135, Daiichi 1150, Mustad 800200BR, Orvis 8891, Eagle Claw LO56. Size 10-16. The hook for this fly is a Dai Riki 135 size 10.

  2. Thread - Black or brown Uni-thread 8/0 or 12/0.

  3. Tail - White antron.

  4. Abdomen - Blood red turkey biot.

  5. Gills - White antron.

  6. Thorax - Peacock herl.

  7. Head - Black metal or glass bead. The bead on this fly is tungsten.

TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Head - Slip black bead on to the hook, insert the hook in the vise and build a good thread base on the hook's shank.

  2. Tail - Tie in a few strands of white antron at the hook's bend about 1/8th inches long.

  3. Abdomen - Tie in a blood red turkey biot by the butt and wrap forward to cover 2/3 of the hook's shank length. Secure with tying thread and trim the excess biot.

  4. Gills - Attach the pecock herl then a few strands of white antron (about 3/4" long) perpendicular to the hook's shank with figure 8 tying thread wraps about 1/2 way between the bead and abdomen.

  5. Thorax - Wrap the peacock herl to the bead. A couple of figure 8 wraps of herl around the gill material covers tie in thread . Secure with tying thread, trim the excess herl, whip finish and cement if you like. Trim the antron gills short, a little less than 1/8 inch.
