TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Insert the hook in the vise, attach the thread, and build a good thread base the length of the hook's shank.

  2. Abdomen - Attach a smallish sized tuft of olive marabou at the the center of the hooks shank and trim any excess butts close. approximately 4 times the length of the hook's shank. Extend the tying thread about 2/3 of the length of the marabou (away from the hook), wrap the tying thread around the marabou over itself 3 or 4 times. Pinch the marabou and the tying thread between the thumb and fore finger and begin spiraling the tying thread forward to the hooks shank and end at the front of the marabou. Finish with 5 or 6 thread wraps at the front of the marabou.

  3. Thorax - Attach 5 or 6 dyed olive cock ringneck pheasant tail fibers by the large end then 4 or 5 peacock herls at the front of the marabou abdomen/tail. Wrap the peacock herl around the tying thread 5 or 6 times in a counter clockwise direction. Pinch the peacock and the tying thread between the thumb and fore finger and wrap the thorax forward to the rear of normal head space, secure with tying thread and trim the excess peacock.

  4. Wing Case - Pull the pheasant tail fibers forward to the front of the thorax, secure with tying thread and trim the excess pheasant tail fibers.

  5. Head - Cover the peacock and pheasant tail fiber trimming and form a tapered head. Whip finish and cement if you like.
