MATERIALS LIST

  1. Hook - Daiichi 1150, Mustad 800200BR, Orvis 8891, Eagle Claw LO56, Tiemco 2487. Size 12-16.

  2. Thread - Orange 6/0

  3. Tail - Rusty brown rabbit hairs from scrap zonker strip.

  4. Body - Small orange "V-Rib".

  5. Ribbing - Peacock herl.

TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Insert a hook in the vise and build a good thread base.

  2. Attach the tail and the peacock herl and a length of tying thread eqyal to the peacock herl at the rear of the hook's shank.

  3. Tie in the "V-Rib" body material at the head of the hook's shank and wrap to the tail and then to the head of the fly. Secure with tying thread and trim the excess.

  4. Wrap the peacock herl around the length of tying thread 6 or 7 times. Hold the tying thread and the peacock together and spiral the peacock herl to the head of the body, secure with tying thread and trim the excess.

  5. Build a tapered head, whip finish and cement.

Olive also works but I prefer the orange color combo. This past spring I caught a 10" blue gill with this pattern fished around a shallow emergent weed bed!
