  2. Thread - Brown 8/0 Uni-Thread

  3. Tail - Rooster ringneck pheasant tail fibers.

  4. Rib - Extra fine, oval gold, "Lagartun French Tinsel" or fine gold wire.

  5. Abdomen - Hareline "Hares Ear Plus".

  6. Thorax - Peacock herl.

  7. Wing Case - Rooster ringneck pheasant tail fibers.

  8. Legs - Rooster ringneck pheasant tail fibers.

  9. Head - Tying thread.

TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Insert a hook in the vise, secure the tying thread to the hook's shank and build a good thread base from the rear of normal head space to the hook's bend.

  2. Tail - Tie in three rooster ringneck pheasant tail fibers at hook's bend, tips to the rear, approximately 1/4 body length.

  3. Abdomen - At the tail tie in secure with tying thread a length of extra fine oval gold tinsel. Fashion a thin tapered "Hares Ear+" dubbing noodle on the tying thread and wind the dubbing noodle forward 2/3 of hook's shank length.

  4. Ribs - Spiral the extra fine oval gold tinsel forward to the front of the abdomen in four turns, secure with tying thread and trim the excess close.

  5. Thorax - Tie in six rooster ringneck pheasant tail feather fibers, tips to the rear and even with the tips of the tail, at the front of the abdomen. Tie in a couple peacock herl, and wrap a fat thorax.

  6. Wing Case - Pull the 6 pheasant tail feather fibers forward and secure with tying thread at the front of the thorax. Don't trim the tips of the pheasant tail fibers.

  7. Legs - Seperate the tips of the pheasant tail feather fibers, three for each side, and pull the "PT" fiber tips to the rear and along the sides of the fly and secure with tying thread.

  8. Head - Cover the "PT" fibers in the head section with a tapered tying thread head, whip finish and cement if you like.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

I forgot the turkey feathers for The regular Gold Ribbed Hares Ear tie and we needed some small nymphs to satisfy those large Henry's Lake Hybrids and concocted The PT Hares Ear. Probably the "PT Hares Ear" has been previously tied and I'm not claiming "braggin' rights". The pheasant tail/hares ear fur is a natural combination and produces very well.
